Upward Bound Summer Academy Resident Assistant

General Job Summary:

Federally funded position from June 11 – July 24, 2026. Approximately 20 students from area high schools will be housed on the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College, Monday-Friday, where they will be exposed to a residential living experience. A total of four Resident Assistants will be hired. The Resident Assistants will work with certified instructors in academic areas and lead/supervise students during cultural, recreational, and social activities. In addition, the Resident Assistants will be responsible for the students, taking shifts from Monday morning until Friday afternoon during the Upward Bound Summer Academy. Resident Assistants will attend the Big City Trip tentatively scheduled for July 20-24, 2026. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record, and provide proof of insurance.


Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Iowa Lakes Community College participates in the federal E-Verify program. We will verify your employment eligibility in the United States as required by law.


Minimum Qualifications: Preference given to college sophomore, junior, senior or college graduate and/or prior camp counselor experience. Cumulative grade point average above 2.75. Previous experience in working with high school youth preferred.


Salary:  $3,000


Benefits:  Furnished room and board on the Emmetsburg campus; meals provided when food service is available.
