Be Like Barefoot @ Dickinson County Nature Center

Families are invited to an evening of discovery and outdoor fun at the Dickinson County Nature Center during the next Family Nature Night on Friday, January 23, from 5 to 6 PM. This free program encourages families to learn about nature and the outdoors while spending quality time together. The evening’s theme, ‘Be Like Bigfoot’ by leaving no trace. Families will walk through a visual timeline that shows how long different types of trash take to break down in nature. The group will then head outside to search the trails at Kenue Park for the seven Leave No Trace principles while keeping an eye out for any signs that Bigfoot might have passed through. Back indoors, families will brainstorm ways they can leave little to no trace when visiting wild spaces. Everyone will add their ideas to a large collage that will be displayed at the Nature Center. Children will also receive a booklet to take home as a reminder to care for outdoor spaces wherever their adventures take them. Families are required to register and sign up by visiting www.dickinsoncountyconservationboard.com under the Programs/Events tab. Registration deadline is 5 PM on January 21st.
